Wills & Powers of Attorney
“Where there is a Will there’s a way”
Recent research by Royal London revealed that 5.4 million adults in the UK without a Will would not know where to begin if they were to write one. 54% of UK adults do not have a Will.
Putting it simply, the rules of intestacy can mean that estates of whatever value are not distributed as the deceased might have intended. This also often results in legal complications and increased costs.

It is a common mistake to think that a spouse or children will be able to deal with your affairs if you are incapacitated in any way. Without an existing Power of Attorney (LPA) the process can be complex and expensive. A LPA is a legal document you write before losing capacity whereby you appoint a person or persons (Attorney (s)) who you trust to make decisions on your behalf. There are two forms of LPA, Property and Financial and Health and Welfare. These documents can be invaluable in efficiently dealing with your affairs and increasingly due to the General Data Protection Act many official bodies will not deal with family members without a LPA. These are powerful legal documents, so it is important to take advice when writing one.
